Latin American specialist. Grandson of Gen. Thomas McArthur Anderson, whose papers he gave to the collection earlier.

Charles Gauld was born in 1911. About 1939 Mr. Gauld was working toward a Ph.D. at University of California as a Brazailian specialist when war interupted his studies and he worked with the U.S. Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs. He wrote most of the letters written from Washington, D. C.
