Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Jack Price (1902-1984) was named George Allen Price, but was known as Jack. He was a charter member and official of Local 1 of the International Longshoremen's Association in Raymond, Washington. Price served as second Vice President of the International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union from 1935 to 1938. From 1942 to 1967, he was a member and officer of ILWU Local 19 in Seattle. He was a member of several ILWU missions to foreign countries, including a 1959 delegation to the first All Pacific Dockworkers Conference in Tokyo.

Correspondence, minutes, agreements, reports, photographs, speeches and writings, convention proceedings, newsletters and ephemera, 1935- (bulk 1935-1967). Primarily documents the International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union and its Seattle Local 19. Also documents Price's appeal to the Coast Guard to reinstate his port security clearance following World War II and security clearance problems of other longshoremen. Price was redbaited for no apparent reason. Included also is documentation collected by Price regarding ILWU Local 28 in Portland.
