The Puget Sound Association of Phi Beta Kappa was founded on January 22, 1953 and accepts Phi Beta Kappa members elected by any chapter. The Puget Sound Association works with the national office of the Phi Beta Kappa Society to sustain a variety of programs that honor and champion liberal arts scholarship. Through their annual Book Awards and undergraduate and graduate scholarships, the Puget Sound Association continues to acknowledge the accomplishments of outstanding students. The Pathfinder Awards recognize extraordinary leaders in promoting educational excellence. The Puget Sound Association is also committed to bringing local members together for social gatherings that foster educational enrichment, sponsoring fall and spring lecture events and unique programs such as cultural tours and informal discussion sessions.

Includes programs, bylaws, legal documents, directories, committee files, financial records, newsletters, reports and other materials related to the creation of the organization on January 22, 1953 and efforts to administer book awards, scholarships, newsletters, luncheons, lectures, and other regional annual events. Also includes several handbooks for new members issued by the national chapter between 1934 and 1961.
