John B. Coombs has served as both the Associate Dean for Regional Affairs and Rural Health and Associate Vice President for Medical Affairs, Clinical Systems, and Networks within the UW School of Medicine since 1993. In this administrative capacity, Coombs is responsible for the daily operations of the School of Medicine's Academic Medical Center, which includes the hospitals, faculty practice plan, and medical school clinical activities. Coombs also oversees the School of Medicine's Regional Medical Education Program, also known as WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), and is responsible for graduate medical education programs at the University of Washington with over 1500 residents and fellows in 63 programs.
