Historical NoteReturn to Top

Ewart Ainslie Swinyard was born on 3 January 1909 in Logan, Utah. He earned a B.S. in Zoology and a B.S. in Pharmacy from Idaho State University, an M.S. in Pharmacology from the University of Minnesota, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Utah. As well as being a pharmaceutical researcher and a professor of pharmacology at the University of Utah, Swinyard was a Dean at the University of Utah School of Pharmacy; and from 1976-1978, he served on the Utah Division of Alcohol and Drugs Committee. Ewart Swinyard died on 10 July 1997.
