Scope and Content: Drawings of Coast Salish and Haida canoes, 1987-1988.
One canoe is a racing canoe; others were traditional types used on Puget Sound. The Haida canoe was built in 1986 for Expo 86. Others are from early in the 20th century. The Lummi canoe is at Coupeville; the 15' 8" one is at the Center for Wooden Boats, Seattle; the 27' one is in Vancouver B.C., to be part of the Burke Museum Centennial.

Scope and Content: Fieldwork journal, MA thesis, booklet, article, interview transcripts; 1988-1990.
MA thesis, "Paddle to Seattle, a Native Washington Movement to 'Bring Them Back Home'" documents the 1989 Native Canoe Project in which more than 17 Western Washington tribes participated. The project was sponsored by the Washington State Centennial Commission as part of the state's centennial celebration. Also documented in this accession is Lincoln's work for the Suquamish Tribe's oral history project, "Waterborne -- Gift of the Indian Canoe". See her final reserach report in Box 1 for more details.
