George Hauser Hill was born in Rock Island County, Illinois, on November 14, 1861, the son of Henry H. Hill. He was a nephew of both Samuel T. Hauser and Edward W. Knight. He also was secretary of the Cokedale Coal Company in 1906, and for the final seven years of his life, was employed at the Glacier Peak Mining and Smelting Company.
