The "Big Parade" was an army caravan that toured Utah from April 15-27 to sell war bonds in the national Second War Loan Campaign. The parade traveled through almost every city and county in Utah. Utah's goal was to raise $50,000,000 in bond sales but exceeded that by over $1,000,000.

  • Photograph number 1: Close-up view of the B-7 plane that attracted attention in every city that it visited.
  • Photograph number 2: "Jeep with combat foot soldiers equipt with Thompson sub-machine guns, America's greatest weapon for the type of combat in the Pacific jungles."
  • Photograph number 3: "A close-up of 37 mm antiaircraft and anti-tank guns. There were two of these guns with the caravan and attracted a great deal of attention."
  • Photograph number 4: "40 mm anti-aircraft guns, one of Uncle Sam's finest and most deadly weapons for defense. This gun has automatic firing devices and has rendered invaluable service in the war to date."

War Bond Sale
  • Photograph number 1: "Mayor Booth of Spanish Fork, Utah addressing the people during the Bond Sale. You will note the quota of Spanish Fork of $280,000.00 and the sales reached the grand total of $ 330,000.00 during the day."
  • Photograph number 2: "Youngsters at Delta, Utah purchasing war stamps. Thousands of dollars worth of war stamps were sold by the Caravan."

The youngsters in every community enjoyed climbing over, under, and through this plane, and used pliers, chisels, wrenches, and anything available to take home a souvenir. We had no objection to this, in fact, the plane served the purpose of keeping them from taking souvenirs off more important equipment."

  • Photograph number 2: "Alberto Gutierrez, official troubadour of Mexico, who played all over Mexico and in the leading spots of our big cities. Alberto played in two pictures with Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy and was a featured artist with Andre Kostelanetz's orchestra. Alberto stopped the show in every town and they would hardly let him stop entertaining."

  • Photograph number 4: "Jerry Ziering, Trumpeter who played with two of the leading band names of the country and a fine entertainer."

  • Photograph number 7: "Moro Gonzales, nationally known newspaper cartoonist and artist. Moro entertained the crowds with his original sketches, and the one shown in the picture of Uncle Sam was auctioned off in every community to surprising returns."
