Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Jerome Becker was the son of Sol Becker who immigrated to America and settled in Seattle in 1914. In 1919 Jerome and two brothers opened a grocery store at 84th and Greenwood which was very successful. In the late 1940s, Sol Becker was the Secretary of the Herzl Conservative Congregation. Jerome Becker was a Board member and secretary of the Herzl Congregation in the 1950s-1960s.

Scope and Content: Correspondence, bylaws, minutes, financial records, yearbooks, newsletters.

The entire accession concerns Herzl Ner Tamid, including merger negotiations between Herzl, Ner Tamid, and Beth Shalom, ca. 1968. Herzl and Ner Tamid ultimately signed agreements and merged; Beth Shalom did not.

Restrictions on Access: Open to all users.

Restrictions on Use: Creator's literary rights transferred to the University of Washington Libraries.
