Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Kenneth Alhadeff is a Trustee at Washington State University and was appointed to the Board of Regents in 1996. He is chairman of Elttaes Enterprises, chairman of the Kenneth and Marleen Alhadeff Charitable Foundation, president and CEO of MiKen Properties and owner of the Majestic Bay Theatres. Additionally, he serves as board president of Northwest School for Hearing-Impaired Children, and trustee of KeyBank National Association and Cornish College of the Arts. Alhadeff was the founding chairman of the Seattle Public Schools Fund for Excellence. He has also served on the Governor’s Transition Commission on Social Services, Governor’s Real Estate Advisory Board, the Governor’s Commission for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Events, the American Jewish Committee, and the Seattle Symphony, among many others. He received a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from Washington State University in 1970.

Alhadeff speaks about his family's roots in Seattle including his grandfather Solomon Alhadeff who worked for Pacific Fish Company and served as the first president of Congregation Ezra Bessaroth and his maternal grandfather Joseph Gottstein who built Longacres Racetrack. He recounts his Jewish education growing up in Seattle, his experiences as a Jewish student at Washington State University, and his operating and eventual selling of Longacres. Alhadeff also discusses his civic and social activities including the renovation of the Bay Theater, his production of Broadway shows, and his work with Jewish Family Services.
