Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Camp Solomon Schechter was founded by the Conservative Jewish congregations in the Northwest (Seattle, Spokane, Vancouver, B.C., Calgary, Edmonton, Portland) in 1955. Facilities were rented until its present site was purchased in 1968.

The Pacific Northwest Region of United Synagogues of America (a Conservative affiliation) oversaw the camp from 1974-75.

Scope and Content: Primarily correspondence, financial records, minutes, and property appraisal concerning Camp Solomon Schechter, a Jewish summer camp for youth near Olympia, WA (1968-1974). Also bylaws, bulletin and news release regarding Congregation Beth Shalom (1970-1972); yearbook of Herzl Conservative Congregation (1964-1965).

Restrictions on Access: Open to all users.

Restrictions on Use: Creator's literary rights transferred to the University of Washington Libraries.
