Biographical NoteReturn to Top

U.S. Congressman from Washington.

Born in Dillon, Mont. December 11, 1927. Was Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Snohomish County, 1959-60, practiced privately 1961-64, elected to U.S. House of Representatives from the Second District of Washington in 1964. Retired from Congress in 1978. Served on the following committees: Interior and Insular Affairs, Education and Labor, Rules, and Select Committee on Ethics. He chaired the Indian Affairs subcommittee of Interior and Insular Affairs and was Vice-Chair of the American Indian Policy Review Commission, ca 1976-78. He also served on the General Oversight and Alaska Lands subcommittee, Territorial and Insular Affairs subcommittee and National Parks and Recreation subcommittee.
