Historical NoteReturn to Top

Robert Livingstone, Jr. was born in Portland, Oregon and received the BA degree from Oregon State University and graduate degrees from Stanford University. During WWII, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division, whose unit landed at Utah Beach, liberated Paris, fought the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge and was the first to cross the Rhine River. He was wounded twice and received the Bronze Star for heroism at the battle of Wurzburg. After the war, he worked as a research scientist with the U.S. Fisheries. During that time, he became a renown expert on the migration of Haddock. He ended his career in Woods Hole, MA and passed away on May 24, 2012. The collection contains photographs, family correspondence, sound recordings during his military service, and other materials related to his military service.
