John Geddes Randall was born in Marshall, Michigan, on January 19, 1873. He was the fourth child in a family of five born to William T. and Sarah Geddes Randall. In 1876, the Randalls moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, and by 1880, they had moved to Beloit, Wisconsin, where Randall attended public school. In 1905, Randall moved to Missoula, Montana, where he established a practice and soon became an active member of the community. He was involved in the Presbyterian Church, and such organizations as the Knights of Pythias and the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was also the president of both the Utsin Medical Fraternity and the Western Montana Medical Society. Randall served on the Missoula County High School Board of Trustees from 1931 until 1937 and was Chairman for two of these years. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Randall married Nellie T.
