Historical NoteReturn to Top

In 1909 the Bellingham Nursery, apparently an entity of the state government, was established on a site overlooking Bellingham Bay near Marine Drive. Weather data was collected at the site starting around 1910. The nursery later relocated to a site just west of the Guide Meridian and again to the west end of Cook Road in Skagit County in 1984. Richard C. Holland worked at the nursery between 1954 and 1971, at which time he had personal responsibility for taking the weather readings. He later gained possession of the pre-1954 weather readings as well as some early Weather Bureau publications.
