Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Cooperative Language Center was formed when a call went out to foreign language teachers in Washington to enter in a mutual assistance pact in 1951. The program included sharing ideas between language teachers across the state and those at the University of Washington, answering questions, and developing regional workshops. Though not formally associated with the Modern Language Association Foreign Language Research Center, the CLC helped to distribute their materials. Lurline V. Simpson, a professor in the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Washington, edited the CLC Notebook.
