Biographical NoteReturn to Top

William T. Shaw was a professor of zoology at the State College of Washington (now Washington State University) during the early part of the 20th century. He also served as the curator of the college's Charles R. Conner Museum, which remains the largest public collection of birds and mammals in the Pacific Northwest. He put together a bird exhibit for the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in 1909.

The collection contains glass plate negatives primarily featuring images of Native American artifacts, some of which are located in the Sheldon Jackson Museum in Sitka, Alaska. There are also some images of buffalo and goats.
