Historical NoteReturn to Top

John Loveless was born 24 June 1807 in Ross County, Goldstream, Ohio. He joined the LDS Church in Attica, Indiana, in 1831 where he was engaged in farming. By 1833, two branches of the LDS Church were organized and moved to Jackson County, Missouri. They were forced to leave and Loveless joined them in Caldwell County. He then moved to Illinois where he took up farming again. He was present during the persecutions in Nauvoo, prompting him to move his family to Council Bluffs in 1846 and then Salt Lake City in 1851. He moved to Provo, then West Jordan, and finally Payson. He and his wife, Rachel Mahala, had thirteen children.
