Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Carolyn Denison was born in Kansas City on October 11, 1910. She attended Trinity College at the University of Toronto, Canada and later received a masters in Communication from New York University. She started her career working in art museums in Springfield, MA and Kansas City. She also wrote and produced classroom films for a New York company. During World War II she worked for a Navy Department in Washington, D.C., where she created and disseminated informational films. After the war she was in charge of the State Department's 16mm educational film program in Germany. Upon her return she worked for the Greenwich, Connecticut Library developing and managing their film library. She authored several children's books and also a book on the description of the development of languages. She died in Stamford, Connecticut on March 31, 2005.
