Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Oregon Folk League was a University of Oregon group devoted to "extension of educational and cultural activities of the University of Oregon." The group promoted the creation of a social and recreation center on Siuslaw Bay, Oregon for the use of University of Oregon faculty, staff, students, and supporters.

Members of the League organized a non-profit corporation, the Siuslaw Bay Community Inc., that held title to the land used by the recreation center. The League exercised the actual administration of the recreation center.

J. Warren Thayer was one of the promoters of the plan.
