Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Pandit Shankar Ghosh (1935-2016) was a tabla player from Kolkata, India. He contributed to the Farukhabad gharana of Hindustani classical music. He toured throughout the US in the 1960s with various vocalists. For three decades, he taught tabla at institutions in Kolkata (India), Paris (France), and Bonn (Germany). In 2000, he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in Tabla.
