Leader, cooperative movement.

William Keil appears to be a German immigrant who moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio, and then to Bethel, Missouri, where he headed a communitarian settlement. From there he led an emigrant train to The Dalles, to the Willapa Valley, and then to Aurora, Oregon.
