Eugene H. Field was hired by anthropologist Bernhard Joseph Stern to photograph the Lummi Indian Reservation in the early 1930s.

The collection contains images taken on the Lummi Indian Reservation in Northwest Washington in the early 1930s. The Lummi are shown in ceremonial garb with ceremonial objects. Also documented are traditional activities, fishing activities, everyday objects, and buildings. Some of the photographs appear in the book The Lummi Indians of Northwest Washington by Bernhard J. Stern.
