Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Raymond Eugene Myers was born on February 27, 1917 in Whitman County, Washington. In 1939, he graduated with a Bachelors of Education from Easter Washington College of Education. After graduation, he was a school teacher from 1939 to 1943. During that time, he married Betty Wolfe. Myers was drafted into the war in the summer of 1943 and fought in World War II until his honorable discharge on January 15, 1946. After returning from military service, him and Betty moved to Walla Walla, Washington where Myers continued to teach. The pair had one son, Keith. Myers retired from teaching in 1977 but continued to participate in community activities such as election board for Walla Walla county, Rotary, and Walla Walla Senior Center. He died on October, 7 2005 in Walla Walla.

Jane Elisabeth "Betty" Myers was born on September 29, 1919 in Huntsville, Washington. After marrying Eugene Myers, she worked as assistant mostmaster in Waitsburg from 1944 to 1945. In Walla Walla, she worked as the secretary at Interior Grocery from 1951 to 1952 and then worked with her husband at Edison Grade School as a secretary as well. Before retiring in 1982, she worked as the attendance officer at Walla Walla High School. She was active in St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Association of Educational Office Personnel. Myers died on September 27, 2016.
