Eleven recorded interviews conducted by Benjamin VandenBerghe with twelve veterans of World War II (2 women and 10 men; the two women, Lois Horn and Janet Ward, gave their interview together) who studied at the University of Washington with support from the GI Bill after the war. The interviews document the impact of veterans who entered the University of Washington between 1946 and 1949. Areas covered extensively include campus life during the pre-war period, the war years, and after the arrival of veterans; the impact of returning veterans on the University's growth and programs; and the housing crisis, particularly for married veterans.
