Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Georgia Compton Koepke was born in Elkhart, Indiana, on January 17, 1885 to parents Albert Eugene (1852-1938) and Barbara Coleman Compton (1847-1928). Her siblings were: Florence Compton Miller (1878-1955), Fern B. Compton Mowery (1881-1918), Anna A. Compton Carlson (1883-1972), Mary Maud Compton Bennett, known as Maud (1886-1984) and her son Dale Max Bennett (1919-), Albert B. Compton (1889-1986). Georgia married Fred Jacob Koepke (1882-1949) in Elkhart, Indiana and had two children, Barbara Louise, known as Louise (1907-1979) and Irvin Frederick, known as Freddy (1914-2002). They lived in Seattle for a year or two around 1917 or 1918-1919 and then ended up in Los Angeles, California. Georgia Koepke died on May 9, 1987 in Glendale, California.

Photos from an album probably created by Barbara Louise Koepke (1907-1979) and by her mother, Georgia Compton Koepke (1885-1987), with photographs of themselves, Georgia's parents, husband, son (Louise's younger brother), siblings and other relatives or family friends during their time in Snoqualmie, and Seattle, Washington. Also includes photos of the family at, Neptune Beach in Almeda, CA, Elkhart, IN, Lake Washington, Denny Park, Alki Beach, Schmidt Park, Volunteer Park and Mt. Si. There is one image of the U.S.S Oregon in the Puget Sound, as well as, one of the strikes in 1919, and the retrograde at Denny Park.
