Lowell Patton (1893-1961) was born in Portland, Oregon, and studied organ under Carl Denton. He was nationally known as a radio organist.
He was organist in the Chautauqua and Lyceum circuits in the 1920s, and was organist of the First Methodist Church, Portland, Oregon. From 1932-1957, was organist of the First Presbyterian Church, Hempstead, New York.
The collection contains published and manuscript music, biographical material, and photographs.
The collection is organized into series. The paper finding aid includes title, music publisher, and date of publication information.
Series I: Published Music contains sheet music and songbooks.
Series I: Subseries A: contains published sheet music organized alphabetically by title.
Series I: Subseries B: contains songbooks also organized alphabetically by title.
Series II: contains manuscripts of sheet music organized alphabetically by title.
Series II: contains biographical information, and Series III: contains photographs.

All requests for permission to publish collection materials must be submitted to Special Collections & University Archives. The reader must also obtain permission of the copyright holder.
