The collection contains correspondence, manuscripts, research files concerning Mexico and Oregon, notebooks, diaries, interviews regarding Waldport, Oregon, books, clippings, and photographs.

The initial donation of March 1970 contains clippings, research files, notebooks, and diaries.

Clippings, research note files, and notebooks are arranged by subjects including Oregon, Mexico, travel, and archaeology. Mexico research includes notes, manuscripts, and clippings. Oregon research includes interviews, transcriptions of genealogies, clippings and notes on the history of Waldport, Oregon. There is also one folder on research into livestock auctions in Oregon.

Other material includes a diary of an inspection trip to Gill Ranch, Eugene, Oregon (1943); a diary of a trip to Nevada (1941); letters to editor; and a bibliography of catalogues, books dealers, and learned societies.

An addendum of April 1970 contains manuscript materials, correspondence, and court transcripts.

Manuscript materials include a bibliography relating to Mexico and interviews and chronologies for historical research of Waldport, Oregon.

There is also a folder of letters and notes concerning the candidacy of Axel Johnson for State Representative, and a folder of court transcripts, letters, and notes regarding the case Van de Velde vs. Joe Wilson.

An addendum of June 1970 includes correspondence.

Correspondence is separated into outgoing and incoming sections, totalling around 550 letters. Outgoing letters are arranged chronologically, 1921-1965. Incoming letters are arranged alphabetically by name (1920-1966). Correspondence includes letters exchanged with University of Oregon faculty and administration.

The paper finding aid lists each correspondents name, date of correspondence, and number of letters, and often includes a notation of business or occupation.
