Biographical NoteReturn to Top
David E. Blaine (1824-1900) was a representative of East Genesee Conference of Methodist Episcopal Church, New York, to Puget Sound. He was Seattle's first minister, founder of First Methodist Episcopal Church of Seattle. His wife Catherine P. Blaine (1829-1908) was the first Seattle school teacher. They lived in Seattle from 1853 to 1856 until sent to Oregon from 1856 to 1862. They returned to New York until 1882 and then requested return to Seattle.
