Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Businessman and Boy Scout leader, of Seattle, Washington. 1891-1976. Sol Levy, who emigrated from London to the United States in 1904, was a Seattle wholesale grocer and importer. Levy founded the Washington State International Trade Fair in 1950, and was a member until 1970. He founded the Cub Scout movement in the U.S., served as member of the executive board, 1928-1959; and president of the Chief Seattle Council of Boy Scouts, 1947-1948; and received several notable awards for his distinguished service to this organization. In 1972 he received the Brotherhood Award of the Washington Region of the National Conference of Christians and Jews.
